This year promises to be very special. We have invited prominent women leaders, representing diverse segments of the community, to participate in a session titled, "Women Leaders & Sustainable Communities." This open forum will feature the following panelists:

  • Sherburne Abbott, Vice President for Sustainability Initiatives, Syracuse University;
  • Amy Casper, CEO, Ephesus Technologies, Syracuse;
  • Vita DeMarchi, Synapse Partners, Syracuse; and
  • Joanne Shenandoah, Ph.D., Grammy Award-winning singer songwriter and board member of the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge.

Posing questions to the panelists and facilitating the forum will be Sandra Barrett, Onondaga Citizens League; Diane Brandli, GreeningUSA; Hanah Ehrenreich, CNY Works; and Tracie Hall, U.S. Green Building Council, New York Upstate Chapter. Shenandoah will kick off the program with a performance of her song, “Your Legacy.”

In addition, we will hold the GreeningUSA Sustainability Awards Program. This annual program recognizes individual and group achievements in creating more sustainable communities across New York State during the past year.

The “Sustaining Our Communities” Advocacy Award will be presented to up to five individuals, organizations or businesses for their significant impacts on environmental, economic and/or social sustainability. GreeningUSA will also recognize the good work of its own members by presenting a "Member of the Year" and up to three "Outstanding Service" awards.

Nominations for all awards is now closed.

A variety of volunteer and affordable sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals wishing to support GreeningUSA’s Annual Meeting. For more information on volunteering or sponsorships, contact Diane Brandli, GreeningUSA president, at dbdesign@twcny.rr.com.
