Public and private sector perspectives shared during Jan. 11 'Land Use & Resource Development' sustainability forum

January 17, 2013

All eyes and ears were on the guest panelists during the first Green Bag Lunch forum that was held on Nov. 15, 2012.
GreeningUSA's and SyracuseCoE's first Green Bag Lunch forum of 2013 drew over 30 local "green" professionals who were treated to a variety of public and private sector insights on what's working in the area of sustainable land use and planning here in Central New York. Pictured are three of the Jan. 11 session's panelists: Emanuel Carter (center), SUNY-ESF associate professor of Landscape Architecture, talks about the benefits of dense urban neighborhoods as Rich Cunningham, senior consultant with Thoma Development Consultants, and Jane Rice, planning division manager with edr Companies, look on. Also serving as guest panelists for this session were Megan Costa, program manager with Syracuse-Onondaga County Planning Agency (SOCPA), and Andy Maxwell, director of planning & sustainability with the City of Syracuse.

The Green Bag Lunch series is a set of monthly forums designed to bring sustainability experts and professionals together for collaboration on a comprehensive best practices manual on community sustainability.
