The GreeningUSA Education Committee will hold its Sustainability Academy Green Neighborhood Tour on Saturday, April 26 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Westcott neighborhood of Syracuse. This family-friendly event will feature a self-guided walking tour of the area with twenty stations along the way to showcase local social, economic or environmental sustainability solutions. The event is free and open to the public.

This tour will empower attendees with the knowledge necessary to contribute to a sustainable community. Come learn about various green issues and solutions enacted in the Westcott neighborhood, and how you and your community can become part of those solutions. Prizes and raffle items will be awarded to those who get their "passports" stamped at all of the stations along the tour.

Please bring a vegetable to the Westcott Community Center to contribute to our "Stone Soup." Soup will be available for free and other food and beverages will be available for purchase.

In addition, GreeningUSA will be screening two films at the Westcott Community Center. Comfort Zone, a documentary about three Central New York residents who explore the climate change issue and how it impacts them, is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. and runs approximately one hour. Chasing Ice, a documentary featuring stunning photography that explores the impacts of climate change on arctic glaciers, will be shown at 3:30 p.m. and runs approximately 80 minutes.

"Passports," maps and other information can be obtained during the event at the Westcott Community Center or at stations throughout the Westcott neighborhood.

We ask that you make a contribution to support this and other GreeningUSA programs. A tax-deductible donation may be made securely online or by cash or check at the event. In addition, checks made out to GreeningUSA may be mailed to 727 East Washington Street, Syracuse, New York 13244.

We look forward to seeing you on April 26!

Many thanks to our sponsors!
